Sustainable gastronomy on the Schmittenhöhe
Where regional delicacies are served
Numerous culinary establishments invite you to enjoy local cuisine on the Schmitten. Some of them are owned by the Schmittenhöhebahn AG and, like the cable car company itself, attach great importance to sustainability. The focus of the restaurants is on resource-saving operations and the use of regional products for the food they serve.
Schmitten tip
During the summer months, “Fredi” organises guided hikes with a focus on herbs on Zell’s landmark mountain. They are a great opportunity for visitors to see and experience the biodiversity on the meadows of the Schmitten.
More local cuisine
AreitAlm is a member of the “Via Culinaria” and a worthwhile stop on the “Genussweg für Hüttenhocker”. Regional delicacies of alpine cuisine are served in a wonderful ambience.
The Panorama Restaurant is a prime example of sustainability as well. Numerous regional companies joined forces for the modernisation of the restaurant. Since then, the self-service establishment has been boasting a contemporary design and shining in new splendour. Equally shiny: the dishes that come out of the dishwashing line, which was replaced in the course of the renovation and now consumes significantly less energy.
Directly connected to the Panorama Restaurant is the Franzl. Its menu features numerous regional delicacies. Gourmets especially enjoy Franzl’s Kaiserfrühstück while looking out over the magnificent Alpine scenery.
Certified Gourmet Stations
The food served at the restaurants of the Schmittenhöhebahn AG is excellent in multiple regards. By using only regional products, the delicacies not only taste amazing but are also prepared in “distinguished” kitchens.
