The zellamseeXpress: a visionary achievement
A landmark project unfolding in two construction phases
One of the main challenges was establishing a stable foundation in this demanding landscape, which required the construction of an exceptionally tall support structure. Support 3, impressive in itself, stands 40 meters tall at a striking 21-degree angle, anchoring the cable car system firmly to the mountainside. Prior to this, extensive slope stabilisation work had to be carried out, including the application of 70 cubic meters of shotcrete. The support rests on a 210-metre underground ossature created with piles. After ensuring slope stability, the foundation – comprising 100 cubic metres of concrete and nine tonnes of reinforcement material – was laid.
Another complex task was the installation and splicing of the hauling cable, further complicated by the challenging terrain. It required multiple pulling ropes and a 70-metre splicing frame to meticulously wind up and join the cable ends.
